Koeck, Theresa Maria

Our mother passed away at her home in Salmon Arm after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family. She is survived by her loving husband Siegfried, four children, Ernie (Roxy), Lisa (Jake), Katherine, Frank (Kathy), and five grandchildren, Erika (Neil), Marcus, Anthony, Molly and Jack, brothers Max (Hermine), Karl (Anni), sisters Erna and Maria (Peter) as well as nieces and nephews. Her parents, Max and Theresa Steinbauer, brothers Hans, Adolf and Franz have gone before her.

Oma, to her grandchildren, loved her family and enjoyed gardening as a hobby, as was evidenced by beautiful flowers wherever she and Dad lived. She was a superlative cook and baker, and enjoyed putting on family dinners and get-togethers where all her children and grandchildren could come together.

Mom and Dad came to Canada from Germany in 1958, starting their Canadian life in Winnipeg. After successive moves to North Vancouver and Maple Ridge, they settled their family on a cattle ranch near Quesnel. We children grew up there, learning the ethics and values that Mom and Dad wanted to teach us, values which have stood us all in good stead in our lives and which we are now imparting to our own children. Mom was always a proud and steadfast Canadian and loved our country.

Mom and Dad decided to retire in Salmon Arm after leaving the Ranch, and built their home overlooking Shuswap Lake, where they enjoyed each other’s company, and visits from family and friends.

Mom/Oma will always be missed, never forgotten by those of us who love her and treasure her memory.
